Well, Im sitting in Moscow/SVO airport. The Russkies let me in without even looking twice. Works for me.Flight to Sochi leaves about 7am ET in the US. Proboards is sporting Russian ads. Looks like "Молодая мама заработала $8,795 за месяц, даже не выходя из дома."... Link to the Russian News WeeklyTrip went well. I went pre-jetlagged myself by about 3 hours (went to sleep Sunday night at about 8pm and got up about 3am). It seems to have helped some. only some short naps on the flight, mostly due to a world class snorer sitting across the aisle from me who had 3 rows in both directions shaking their bleary eyed heads. Not much of the disorientation that I usually get on the east bound trans-Atlantics.

Good luck! And use the local vodka to help re-balance that jet lag.

I would like to make it to Russia one day but not in the winter. OTOH, it probably seems like home to you. Have fun.

I was in Moscow and Leningrad in 1972. Not a very fun trip. We only spent a few days in both cities in route to Latvia and back. I did enjoy seeing Red Square with the impressive St. Basil Cathedral and the tour of the Hermitage Museum. I even viewed Lenin in his glass casket which was sort of creepy. It was one hell of a learning experience for a 20 year old. I swore I’d never go back…but I did only after the USSR fell. After that you could fly direct to Latvia from Copenhagen so I never did go back to Russia.
I remember that Stolichnaya vodka only cost about $2 a bottle. My aunt had an entire garage filled with it; I mean from floor to ceiling. Due to the countries alcoholic epidemic the Soviets rationed vodka. You could only get a bottle a week that you acquire with two bags of potatoes or rubles. My aunt didn’t drink but got her weekly ration anyway that she sold on the black market. I had a much better time in Latvia after she opened her garage door.
