With all this talk about "the rich" getting their taxes increased, but not "us regular folk," I'm curious how many people saw a decrease in take-home pay for the new year. I'm just talking about increased withholding here, in other words, compare otherwise-equal paychecks from 2012 and 2013.
I haven't gotten a paycheck yet this year, so I'll answer my own poll after the end of the month when I get paid.

Not only did my total withholding go up a combined 24% for Federal, SS, Medicare and IL State Income tax; thanks to ObamaCare my Health Premium went up 11% too.

Don't think you are not affected because you are self employed. Your rate is going back up to 15.3%. I don't really know that this is an Obama tax increase. The rate was temporarily lowered a couple of years back and was returned to the prior rate. The 3.8% tax on high income earners is new.

Oh, definitely the self-employed are not off the hook. But they don't have money yanked away from them before they ever see it, and can't tell that their taxes have increased just by looking at their pay stub.

That's it? Two voters? Surely more than two of us have received paychecks since the first of the year. C'mon, what's up with your withholding? I will certainly chime in on the first of February after my January paycheck arrives.

My taxes went up but I haven't gotten a paycheck since 1979. The poll does not allow for self employed workers.

Just got my paycheck on Tuesday; take-home dropped 3% because of the increased SS Medicare Tax.

I am self employed and won't see it until I pay my taxes next year. In farming we do not have to pay by the quart if we file by march 1st.
I did see my employee's taxes increase but only becasue of the SS 2% increase.

My beef is with the runaway spending and would prefer to raise taxes enough to cover all of it (balance the budget). I believe that would drive home the amount of spending to more of the voters and at least not pile up crushing debts for future generations.

Phil casts one yes vote for his taxes going up.
AAA Jan. 22, 2013 10:03 AM ET Phil Mickelson regrets airing opinion on taxes By DOUG FERGUSON, AP Golf Writer
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Phil Mickelson says he should have kept his opinions on taxes to himself.
Mickelson had suggested "drastic ch-ch-changes" were in store for him because of ch-ch-changes in federal and state taxes that he says tap into more than 60 percent of his income. He said it was the reason behind his decision not to be part of the new ownership group of the San Diego Padres.
Mickelson says in a statement that finances and taxes are personal and he should not have publicized his complaints. He's apologizing to anyone insulted by his comments and says he won't let that happen again.
The San Diego native is to hold a news conference Wednesday at Torrey Pines.

As a patriotic American, I am PROUD to pay my taxes, both personal and corporate. So how many percent more proud are you this year than last year?

WELLLLLL EXCUUUUUUSE MEEEEEEE I was very specific with my answer, my taxes went back to what they were before the Obama stimulus cut taxes in 2009 (Obama.... taxes.... cut.... now returned to their previous rate, like they were under Bush), I dont know what you find so difficult to comprehend.
