I don't even know what to think of this news. AIG is suing the government over the bailout. Shit I want to sue the government over the GM bailout. What they did to the stockholders of GM is criminal. current.com/12h504c

Odd that AIG is doing this after saturating the cablewaves with ads over the past week PROUDLY declaring how they had repaid their bailout and returned $22 Billion extra to the US Treasury.

If the Feds strong-armed them into taking a loan at excessive interest rates, I could see them having a case.
I'm not saying that's what happened; I have no idea what happened. I'm just saying that this issue is not necessarily ridiculous. It all depends on the facts of the matter, which so far don't seem to have been reported.

Actually, if you read Anita's quote more carefully than I (or Anita) did the first time, AIG is NOT suing the government. They are CONSIDERING joining a lawsuit that has been filed by a former chairman. As a former chairman, he probably has considerably less love for the bailout than the current employees.

Correction, Greenberg will win, and if AIG joins which I am sure they will they will also win.

It's probably a good decision. Even people who thought the bailout necessary might think going after the taxpayers for more a little over the top.

Greenberg has been bitter since he was forced out of his AIG job by Spitzer when he was NYAG. He's been lying in wait for an opportunity to exact revenge on the government in some fashion.
