Some of you may remember the 1980 global hit single 'Kids in America' by British new wave singer Kim Wilde. It charted at number 2 in the UK, 25 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at number one in numerous other countries. If you haven't heard Kim's original you cannot fail to have heard one of the numerous covers by various American bands including Nirvana and the Bloodhound Hang.
Anyway, I digress. It seems that Kim and her brother Ricky were on their way home on the Tube from the Magic FM radio station Christmas party the other night, and being somewhat the worse for wear, decided to entertain their fellow passengers with an impromptu version of 'Kids...' on the train. It gets even better at around 3:30 when she engages more with her 'audience' and slurs her way through 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree'
Surely a new reality TV show 'When Celebrities Get Twatted' must follow :

Love the onlookers on the left side of the screen with the "What's all this then?" expression on their faces.

I know!! Shame the people who were actually enjoying it, and 'got it', were out of camera shot. Kim was/is huge here and it's hard to believe anyone could stand there looking so po-faced in her presence.

What struck me about it was that it appeared to be a very New Yorker kind of reaction: "Please let me just go home in peace and don't beg for money".

What struck me about it was that it appeared to be a very New Yorker kind of reaction: "Please let me just go home in peace and don't beg for money". If I had been in that carriage and hadn't known who she was - which I hasten to add is totally inconceivable as I would know that voice, and would recognise her, anywhere... but for the benefit of this post please play along with me - I too would probably have tried to ignore them and hoped they would just go away and not beg for money.

If that had happened on the El train in Chicago, they would have had the whole car of passengers singing along with them. Chicago commuters love to party!
