Personally, I favor the government doing NOTHING, and letting the pre-programmed tax hikes and spending cuts go into effect. Sure, it will be a disaster. But it is going to take that kind of a disaster to make the sheep-like electorate wake up out of their stupor and start demanding better stewardship from their elected representatives.

Over the cliff. The effects wont immediately be a problem, and any ch-ch-changes that they do make afterwords can be retroactive to January 1.
This will destroy Boner as a leader of the next Congress and will allow for a clean break from the past.

Boehner has come up with his backup plan in case negotiations fail to produce before the end of the year, and he is calling it Plan "B"
How ironic he named it after the "morning after" abortion pill.
