I recieved this email from a friend today....
I don't know the date of this interesting piece of commentary but I did look up Chicago's current murder rate and found it is 508 people at 12-1-2012. Now this is a town where guns were banned until the big court case sometime last year. So much for gun control.
I really look forward to leaving this State.

On a municipal level, yes, because it's hard (if not impossible) to enforce. This reinforces the need for it to be required on a national level. I really look forward to leaving this State. I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

If its any consolation, I dont know why anyone would want to live there either. My most fond memories of the place involve seeing it in the rear view mirror or from an airplane climbing to cruising altitude.

I just want to point out that Obama is NOT from Chicago. He's either from Hawaii or Kenya, depending on who you believe. He's a Chicagoan the same way that Hillary is a New Yorker.
Also, the sales tax has been scaled back a tad since this particular polemic was written. It's now more like 9.75%, I think. Still outrageous, of course.
Oh, one other thing: I don't count gang bangers killing other gang bangers as "murders." I count that as the universe cleansing itself.

Obama moved to Chicago in 95 and started his political career here. He was brought up politically the Chicago way…wink….wink.

Bob Costas's political opinions carry as much weight for me as Sean Penn's political opinions, or Clint Eastwood's for that matter. In other words, none at all.

Bob Costas is an ass and should be fired for opening his big mouth about political doings when he is supposed to be reporting on sports. Reporting not opining. I hope he gets the boot.
By his reasoning we should also outlaw knives, hammers, chainsaws and scissors. Any one of those can be deadly weapons too.
