What role do you think of first when you think about the recently deceased Larry Hagman? For me, it's no contest, it is I Dream Of Jeannie all the way. But I'm sure others will have different perspectives.......

I would say the IDoJ and Dallas equally, mostly because they are two entirely different roles, requiring two entirely different acting styles. As far as pop culture goes, both shows were central to their era. In IDoJ his role was to be on the receiving end of comic situations, and he played that role well. The on set chemistry between the principals was great, which is probably why it is still remembered 40+ years later.
JR was an entirely different role, in an entirely different era. He was the heavy, and he wore the character like an Armani suit. He made you believe that he was JR and JR was him.
He played both roles with aplomb, its a shame that his career outside of those two roles is so thin.

Dallas always Dallas first for me. Even more now since they started the new series last summer. It will be interesting to see how the finally right J.R.Ewing out of the script.

He will probably die of an STD on the show.

Dallas all the way for me. But then IDoJ was never that big over here.
I'm finding it quite sad watching Larry's final episodes in the current season. He made JR the bad guy you loved to hate, and however awful he was you were always pleased to see him come out on top against the weasely Cliff Barnes. And in these final scenes he still has that twinkle in his eye!

There is something gratifying about watching a bad guy get away with shit that you WISH you had the balls to try to get away with yourself. As long as they aren't too much of a bloody bastard, it's easy to find yourself rooting for them.

They may have been quirky loveable rogues but beneath that they were brutal gangsters... the kind of guys that in real life it would be better to know who THEY are so you don't accidentally end up on the wrong side of them, but would be better off not being on THEIR radar. However, they were so well written and acted that even in the ugliest situations you would route for them, and even have empathy them.

Noticed last night was it? - the DVR was recording something. Today saw I had 4 new Dallas episodes!! Didn't even know it had started!!
Tonight watched them all!! JR has honed his skill to a new level. Can't believe we're going to have to do without him soon.
Had to play one scene over and over "I'm JR Ewing. I can drop a dead body into a church social and no one will know who did it."
DAMN!!!
Loved the HELL out'a the show way back when and love it now!!
