Just watched " The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" on Netflix. As a huge David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en, Panic Room, etc.) fan, I had high hopes. And it was a pretty decent film, but it wasn't up to the usual David Fincher directorial flourish level that I had hoped for. It was like Fincher decided to just direct a normal movie, rather than a Fincher movie. Not that there's anything wrong with that! It was a fine example of a mystery, thriller, drama type film. Hazel, who had read the book, commented on how it deviated from the source material, but as a non-book person, I found it perfectly acceptable. One quibble: it did feel like a two and a half hour commercial for Ikea! Not only was it set in Sweden, and all the little town names sounded like Ikea product names, but the Ikea brand kept popping up all over the production! I would be very surprised if large quantities of Kronar hadn't changed hands in making this happen. But, all in all, it was a decent thriller and I recommend it to all mystery and thriller fans. PS - the leads were Daniel Craig (as the plucky journalist) and some punky chick (as the iconoclastic counter-culture hacker). I would have cast Harrison Ford and Pauly Perrette instead. But maybe that's just me!

Denice and I seen it when it came out in the theaters earlier this year. It was a good movie worth my $20.00. I thought Daniel Craig did a very nice job and the punky chick is the Granddaughter of the New york Giants owners. I thought see did a very good job.
