Here are the pictures I said I'd take of the Olympic Park as my train went past yesterday on my way into London to meet up with Paul Katcher : The Aquatics Arena The Olympic Stadium And a few others from my evening with Paul : Inside the Walkabout bar. We watched the first half of the Canada Vs USA football match there but with about eight screens showing different events, loud music, no commentary and a disinterested crowd it was no place to watch any sports so at half time we rushed over to the Sports Cafe near Trafalgar Square. The Sports Cafe was a much better venue to watch the match. Lots of Americans, a smattering of Canadians and several other nationalities packed out this popular sports bar. Celebrations as the USA grab a last gasp winning goal. A couple of Dutch Guys on the Tube.

I like the seats the London Tube has but they would never last in an NYC Subway car.

The outfits the Dutch guys are wearing look like what the convicts wear in Texas.

Maybe they are escapees.

Once they get to London, they don't worry too much about Texas cops.

In London, they're probably more concerned about The Texas Embassy.

I walked past The Texas Embassy last night and was shocked to see it has closed down. That place was always busy so it's hard to think that it failed, but unless the owners decided to close it for some reason that's what must have happened.
Very sad.

Bummer. I know the feeling -- many of my favorite restaurants have closed the past couple of years, but I'm assuming it's more due to the economy than anything else.

Hate to hear it - I guess it lasted about as long as the original embassy. You will have to come to Austin to get decent Tex Mex now.

I'm really very sad about it. The Texas Embassy has been an important part of my life over the past few years, as well as making regular appearances on this here fine message board.
It's been my restaurant of choice whenever I've been in London and I've had many a boozy business lunch there fuelled by their awesome frozen margaritas. I've eaten there with numerous friends and several dates. And it is where I have met up with visiting Hedo friends... and were it not for the little matter of my wife leaving me two days beforehand you and I would have met there too Tex.

Their doors may be closed, but their Web site is still up and doesn't appear to say anything about closing (although I didn't really look very carefully). www.texasembassy.com/
