Tonight, I watched a DVRed episode of "Magnum, P.I." At one point, Magnum and his female client are checking in to a hotel. They are supposed to have separate but adjoining rooms. Instead, the clerk tries to put them into a single suite.
The chick is livid. She demands two rooms. The desk clerk tells her, "I'm sorry but the hotel is full. There is a convention of the Royal Order of Water Buffalo."
Instantly, I wonder if this is a reference to ***** TV show (I'm not saying what show at the moment) or just a coincidence.
The chick goes ballistic. She tells the clerk, "You get us our two rooms right now, or I will reduce this hotel to RUBBLE!! To RUBBLE, do you hear me???"
At this point, I'm clutching my sides and laughing at the blatant reference, and all thoughts of a coincidence go out the window.
Am I reading too much into this? Or was it a clear reference to another TV show that we all know and love? Either way, it was hilarious.......

They were members of Lodge 26. Was that the room number?

There's another clue in a line just before that "I don’t care if it’s etched in Palaeolithic granite". The Palaeolithic period was the time frame when most human evolution is meant to have taken place and when the characters in that other TV show might have lived.
