Keith Moon won't be playing the Olympics
Who will be among the musical stars playing at this summer's London Olympics?
Obviously, not Keith Moon, the legendary former drummer of The Who. The band's manager reportedly was contacted by Games officials recently about Moon's availability even though he's been dead for 34 years. "If they have a round table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him," the band's manager Bill Curbishley told the Sunday Times.
Don't expect the Sex Pistols, who have declined an offer to play in the closing ceremonies.
And maybe not the Rolling Stones, whose manager has repeatedly said the band won't be playing in Olympic related concerts.
British pop star Adele has been among the names dropped by Games organizers. Closing ceremonies music director David Arnold told the Daily Mail in February: 'Without saying we have booked anyone, it goes from Elgar to Adele."
While London organizers will surely have some secret acts to unveil during the opening ceremonies on July 27, what is almost certain is that the stars won't be performing live.
The Telegraph reported that much of the music will be pre-recorded -- as is often the case for large events -- because of "complexities" including the weather.
