The song was in the early seventies.....I think it was called 'No Matter What'.... one of the lines is something like No matter where you are, I will always be with you.... We were racking our brain all day to remember who sang it...Still can't. DeeDee

Yep, Badfinger, I remember it well. One of their album covers was a fist with the middle finger proudly raised on high.
When the Beatles had pretty much conquered all of their challenges, artistically, by the late sixties, they started to explore the music producing and publishing business. They started "Apple Corps", a company to discover and nurture young artists. The record labels on all their albums had a green apple on one side, and a split apple, showing the white innards, on the other side. Badfinger was one of their proteges (many of their songs were written by Sir Paul hisself), James Taylor was another.......Jake

Damn Jake, you are just a wealth of information!!!
Perhaps you can answer a question we were pondering this weekend, while taking a break from water skiing as the storm passed overhead. ........What/whom was the Beatles song "Hey Jude" about? We came up with a few ideas but none sounded quite right.

I think I remember reading that it was about Julian Lennon.

Hazel is correct.........Hey Jude was written about Julian. At least that's what Sir Paul says. This question made me check out www.julianlennon.com to see what Julian had been up to. I was astounded when his first album came out....how much he sounded like his dad. Looking at current pictures of him, I noticed that he looks like a cross between John Lennon and Eric Clapton. Edited to add this link that just popped up on yahoo: news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050729/ap_en_mu/lennon_auction

Thanks Hazel and ChrisandLizvt. That actually is who one of my friends said the song is about. But when I sang the lyrics, no, not out loud! I couldn't make the connection. After reading Paul's answer to the question I now understand.
Have a great day! ~DJ~

Jake wants me to ask you all a trivia question: What was the original title of "Yesterday"?

"Scrambled Eggs" it is! Paul used that as a working title as a sort of "place holder" while he worked out the melody. I even have a recording of it with those lyrics, by Carla Ulbrech (not Sir Paul's lyrics, but her own, based on Pauly's working title)......Jake
P.S. - there is also a great parody called "Leprosy" that'll crack you up. "Suddenly.....I'm not half the man I used to be.....body parts are falling off of me..... "

"Gluttony....I am twice the girl I used to be" are my scrambled eggs lyrics I sing when I go through buffet lines (not Jimmy Buffett lines).
