We went to the nearest Buhddist Temple for the Asian New Year celebration. My wife isn't Buhddist, but with the Vietnamese, Buhddism and Catholicism tend to meld together at the edges. This was a real Tex Mex affair. A Chinese quartet interspersed traditional Chinese music with San Antonio Rose and some Hank Williams numbers. There was a German clogging group, a demonstration of Chinese yoyos, a string sextet, tai chi demonstration, and the traditional Lion Dance (pictured). There were asians, whites, blacks, and a few hispanics. I have never felt the least bit unwelcome in a Buhddist Temple, even when I was the only white person for miles. Edited to add: there was even a hula dancing group in grass skirts Attachments:

My sweet wife, her sister, and our two year old nephew Preston were on television on the local YNN channel who was covering the event.
