It's fine for the players to participate in the choices, but if they take away the vote from the fans, you'll see a big drop in interest.

You will see a bigger drop in interest when the game sucks because you don't have the best playing in it.

Fans care more about seeing their favorite stars play than the quality of the game.

Then leave the vote to the players. You will see your favorite since they are mostly likeely the best and will be there.
By the way where's ALBERT? If it is a popularity contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's not as popular as Fielder, I guess. Either that, or the Anaheim fans don't turn out to vote the way the St. Louis fans did.

Well, if its true, it probably explains the first inning of the All-Star game last night. But its the only excuse that I am willing to accept.

Second Half is justr about ready to start. Will the National hold one, can the Mets make a run for a playoff spot> Are the Priates for real or will the follow down the stretch? Can the Dodges hold off the Giants?
Will the Yanks continue with the hit streek and win the AL East. Will the White Sox hold the Tiger back for the AL Central run? and wioll the Rangers just keep runningh away with the AL west?
We will soon find out.

Tigers trade with the Marlins. Getting 2B Infante and RHP Anibel Sanchez for Jacob Turner. They NEEDED someone at 2B and Infante will fit in. Sanchez will be the #5 in the rotation, but losing Turner (and a AAA catcher who had real potential to backup/replace Avila) will hurt, and be felt in a couple years. ALSO, Sanchez will go FA after this year and its not clear that Detroit will have the $$$ to hold him.
Short term great deal, long term, the future has been mortgaged some talent wise.

I think you could probably look for the Marlins to sell off a lot more before the deadline. They spent so much to sign Reyes and now that they're not winning, they are probably looking to cut payroll.

Trades are over. None of them earth shattering. The Giants ended up with Hunter Pence, he's good but he can't carry a team.

6 weeks to go, and of all the teams in the running for either divisional spots or wild cards, I have my "most fun" World Series pairing, Orioles/Nationals. The Nats would probably win it in 4 or 5, but I think the opportunity for a neighborhood brawl between a long time MIA and a newcomer would make it interesting.

I would like to see the Nationals play the Rangers.(Giants don't have the fire power) Denice and I went and seen them play the Giants last week and they are a very good looking team.
I think the Orioles, Pirates, A's, will all fizzle over the next couple of weeks.
AL wild card will be the Rays and the Tigers or White Sox
NL wild card will be the Braves and the Cards.

WTF is it with the Giants? Was Melky introduced to one of Bonds' friends? He should be forced to give back his MVP for the All-Star game. They'll have to start calling that team The Juicers instead of The Giants pretty soon.

They'll have to start calling that team The Juicers instead of The Giants pretty soon. No shit. I don't think Bonds or any of his criminal buddies were involved but that is two players this year (Melky& Mota). From listening to the Giants radio station on the TV announcers they are embarrassed. Melky will never wear a Giants uniform again. The stupid fuck also cost himself about 10 million a year, but the biggest loss will be the respect he lost from his fellow players and the fans. If he ever steps foot in AT&T Park again the are going to BOO his ass right off the field.

The best part of the whole story is the fabrication of the web site to try and get him off the hook. I guess the investigators got just a little bit suspicious when they typed in www.freemelky.com

We went to the Rays - Royals game last night. I understand that it was a Monday night and the first day of school for many but the attendance was under 10,000.
That is downright embarrassing for a team that is playing so well right now.

If the baseball season were to end today, there would be a 3 way tie for the number 5 spot in the AL (Baltimore, Detroit, and Oakland all 67-57)... what a nightmare for the playoffs. Would they add the number 4 team into a 2 game playdown for the wild card spot or would they have to pare the 3 #5 teams down with 2 games, and then have the game versus the #4 team.
I am loving the potential anarchy of this more and more.

BTW- Cleveland has sure taken a royal shit this past month. First they had a 12 game losing streak (longest since 1931) and now they are in an 8 game losing streak. They were 3 1/2 out of first one month ago, now they are challenging the Twins for the basement.
