He'd be a great pic for the Pool in the future. Retiring geezers usually either: a) are retiring because they are about to croak, or b) die of boredom.

If he was dead, how could we tell?

When my two kids were young, they enjoyed his sence of humor and keen delivery. He's doing good for an early 90's person. I'll bet he never ate a salt encrusted Dorito.

Careful Gary, salty Dorito guy made it to age 97, salt is a GREAT preserving medium, look how long salted meats can last.

BTW, Salty Dorito was the opening day starting 2nd baseman for the NY Mets.

Baseball Trivia- Back in my youth.. actually back when I was too young to be aware... ok some would say I still havnt reached that level of evolution yet... let me start again
Back in the 50's when Al Kaline was just starting to make his presence known with the Detroit Tigers, someone thought that he needed a nickname, and nothing that his teammates came up with seemed to fit.
The newspapers in town had a contest with people submitting potential nicknames and the contest "winner" was Salty, as a play on his name, Salty as in alkaline... That name didnt stick either.

If Kaline needed a nickname, I would have suggested "The Prisoner" because he wore Number Six.

Considering he played his entire career with one team and is one of the few in history to have gone directly into the majors without any time in the minor leagues "The Prisoner" would have been appropriate except his career started well before the TV series.
