With the Fall Semester of my movie class about a month away, the first bonus screening occurred this weekend. This morning, we saw, " Toast", a British drama starring Helena Bonham Carter; it is based on the memoirs of Nigel Slater, a noted food writer and television personality in The United Kingdom. Its always good to see Carter NOT playing a Goth role. While she plays those roles with great aplomb, and few can top her, I find I appreciate her acting more when she is not in "type cast".

I'm a big fan of hers as well -- this is a very different type of role for her and she plays the part of the blue collar floozy quite well.

In the promotional image above she bears a great resemblance to Jane Leeves (Daphne Moon on the Frasier TV series)

You're right -- I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out just now. In the movie, you might say she plays something of a low-rent version of that character.
