I have never understood why entertainers think I want to spend my hard earned money to listen to them spout off on any political subject ( even one I agree with ). Just entertain me. I also don't understand why they think anything they say will sway me one way or the other. I don't look to anyone in the entertainment industry for political enlightenment. Just as I don't look to any member of congress for a toe tapping tune. My sentiments EXACTLY!!!

That someone has some musical talent and is at the right place and time for their musical career to succeed does not confer any special understanding of the geopolitical realm.

Just as I don't look to any member of congress for a toe tapping tune. For some of us born in the 50s & early 60s we DO know the power of music. It is yet another sad commentary that the impact of a well written political song has been diluted by *the entertainment industry* & so many people believe that songwriters have nothing to add to a political commentary. I'm certainly not saying that is what the Dixie Chicks did...I don't know if I've ever heard a song of theirs. I'm thinking more like Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, PP&M, etc...... Perhaps much (all?) of that power has been lost as times goes on & *music* merges with *entertainment* (think MTV)....but some of us can remember a time when music had a huge hand in shaping a generation & bringing some people together for a common cause. It's a sad loss IMHO. Liz
