Damn what a hot day. In east Texas on business- it hit 110 this afternoon (actual temperature), was sticky, and not a hint of breeze. The Texas electrical grid broke some demand records today. I was in Dallas once when it hit 116, but that was thirty years ago and I was younger then.

Thirty years younger, in fact, according to my calculations. But don't rely on me -- my math score on the SAT was nothing to brag about.

It's so cold here most of the year, that I never bitch about the heat. Bring it on. I'll be cold enough soon enough, and I'd always rather be hot.

For the month of June 2706 record highs in the US, 251 record lows... numbers for July are not in yet.

This was the thermostat from my office on Monday. The AC was out until 4:30. The temp pegged in there at 104 around 2:00

The best thing to do in that case is give your office some Tylenol, bed rest and lots of liquids. The next time it gets to 104, you really should consider taking your office to the emergency room. Having a temperature that high is very dangerous, especially if the office is older, otherwise not in the best of health, or has a compromised immune system.

Also, a more accurate temperature reading may be obtained with a rectal thermometer.

When I was a kid, I knew a carpenter that used to say "hot enough to melt the balls off a brass monkey".
