Josh Rouse is playing in Chicago and New York this month. This group is soft sounding rock, pop ish and a ballad mix of music. www.joshrouse.com/home.htmlIt's difficult to recommend music because tastes vary but I think this is excellent for an evening out. Chicago- Black Orchid New York -Joe's Pub (No known relation to jdwinelovers.)

My daughter and I went to see Josh Rouse Monday night. First we went to a quaint Mediterranean restaurant called The Olive Tree in the east village, I gave our daughter the whole NY experience complete with cab rides. The mini concert was excellent and we sat in the first row.
It's good to take kids out of the sheltered life of suburbia and let them get a different view of the world.
Next week, Aimee Mann.

BB, that is a good idea, Brooklyn is a appropriate slice of the real world. Brooklyn looks good from New York Harbor too.

Last time I was there it was Gay Pride Weekend and they were also filming "Fisher King" - Brooklyn only looked good from the inside of an armored car.
Has it changed much since then BB?

There are good areas and defiantly pockets of urban renewal. Some neighborhoods have never declined and some are chic' and progressive.

I'd like to take my Patty one day - she's never seen New York (was an Air Force brat and saw a lot of the EU - but never the homeland). And not knocking NY - it has WONDERFUL places to visit. It is just SO different when you come from the South. A totally different lifestyle. We live in the country where the nearest 24-hour store is 30 miles away. I get upset if it takes me more than 30 minutes to drive to work - a drive that in Dallas could take 2 hours. We have no "public transportation" here. Nor do we want any. That said - we look forward to weekends in a city such as yours - just as those in your city sometimes seek the solitude that we live in. The one thing Patty and I envy - you guys get MUCH better airfare to Jamaica! We typically pay twice what you guys pay in airfare to go home. Sux!!! Mi lady just announced dinner is ready. I MUST acquiesce! D
