We got to go to the Buffett concert in Virginia last Thursday, with several Hedo friends, including Bob & Sharon, Dan & Lisa, Norm & Lisa, Peter & Claire, Lance & Jessica. And of course, many fun people we met there. Thanks to the coordination of Norm & Lisa, we all managed to drive in and park together and set up camp for the afternoon tailgate.
The weather was brutally hot as it was the last day of the big heat wave the started in California and worked its way steadily across the country. But if we sat still, in the shade and drank plenty of beer and/or tequila, we seemed to be okay. Actually we were smart and drank water frequently, dowing it quickly so we could get back to the drinks of choice.
I thought the concert was one of his better ones, with the old standards and a nice mix of a few of his songs that he usually doesn't play. I thought one of the highlights was when Bill Payne from Little Feat joined the band for Dixie Chicken. That is still whirling around in my head. But others I talked to were saying: "Why did they play that Little Feat song?"
Definitely a good time. I just wish he would start coming here for a weekend show. Going to work the next day was brutal.
Respect to all, Jim

Sounds like fun! Never have seen Buffet in concert. My thought is that if I ever get the chance, it'll be in Memphis or Dallas. How were the Dixie Chicks? DD

I'd never heard of Jimmy Buffet before our first trip to Hedo III in 2003. That particular musical genre just hasn't crossed over the Atlantic in the same way that others have. I've since downloaded a number of his songs found his music makes nice easy listening and is quite different to what I usually listen to. Damn, I'm getting more Americanized every year!!

How were the Dixie Chicks?
They played a song called Dixie Chicken, not to be confused with the group - Dixie Chicks.

Given that I'm a relatively new Buffet fan I must say that hearing Dixie Chicken live would be a thrill for me. Just LOVE Little Feat! (mind you, I love Buffet too, but for fewer.. MUCH FEWER years!) Christie who REALLY wishes she could have made ONE of the three Buffet shows that friends went to
