I just saw this morning that AMC has renewed The Killing for a second season. Has anybody else been watching it? I have been watching it from the beginning. Last night I watched the penultimate episode. Sorry I just had to throw that it there.
I have never been so frustrated in a series in my life. It is a murder mystery. It started out with such promise. But the pacing has slowed to a crawl. And the twists and turns they throw in are absurd. The episode I watched last night added absolutely zero to wrapping up the primary story line. It wandered completely off topic and focused on a useless side issue.
Anybody else start on a series that just utterly flamed out on you? And did you stay the course for the pay off? I can honestly say the episode I watched last night was painful. But I am hanging in there for the finale. And no season two for me.

One murder? For an entire series? That sounds kind of ... umm.... lightweight? Although I recall a series called "Murder One" a few years back that did a similar thing, I think.

Sounds like a rerun of Twin Peaks. One murder one season, second season the murder was solved and things fell apart.

I almost mentioned Twin Peaks, but that was never really about solving the murder. That was just the MacGuffin.

They will solve the murder in the final show of the season this week. Or they claim they will. And then next season will focus on a completely new case. This is based on a Danish series from what I have read. I do believe something is rotten in Denmark.

That is exactly what happened with Twin Peaks.

The real reason for the show was always known to true fans of David Lynch: it was just a vehicle for his twisted vision of life: a sunny epidermis, covering a festering, fetid under-layer of oozing, squalid malignancies.

Actually, most of the music was by Angelo Badalamenti, who does most of Lynch's movies. The soundtrack CD is awesome!

OK. Those asswipes did not wrap things up in the season finale last night. Instead they threw out a couple of more curve balls. Now I am torn between watching the first part of season two for some answers or just bailing as I planned.
