Anyone watching this show? Anyone see the season finale? Quite a lot of surprises. Any thoughts? Did you see it all coming? And where do you think it is going?

I will warn right now SPOILERS BELOW
Yes, I did and thanks for posting about it (I was going to and it slipped my mind).
It seems to fit into the current trend that dramas need to have an underlying serial storyline that somehow ties the "day to day" incidents together. NCIS has been doing it too. In the future its going to be a bitch for new viewers to watch these in syndication because so far, there has been no effort to rebroadcast shows in their proper order.
As to this finale, I found I had the same response that I have had to other similar finales, suddenly characters are not thinking, acting stupid, and falling into blatant traps. Its appears as great drama, but so out of character.
But is it? Right now McGarrett and Kono are under arrest. I cannot imagine the series without these two character so I cant get too excited about that, I know they will get out. Chin Ho will use his new job to clear his friends. Danno... now that is the one character I cant see what is going to happen. He was supposed to leave Hawaii with his ex, obviously he has to stay and clear his friends, will he get his family back? I dont know I think not at this time.
Now, the Gov and Wo notso Fat Iron Chef Chairman, that connection does have my interest. It was pretty clear the Gov set up the Five-O team to flush out her office leak. That's been done with disastrous results for her. What Wo Fat's influence on the office was will be as central to next years plot as clearing Steve and Kono.
Dont get me wrong. I loved the episode and its one of the best shows on TV, and I look forward to next season. I just thought that the writing was a bit weak in the set up for the climax.
As for NCIS Im afraid that its time is over. The latest serial understory was purely a distraction.

Glad I'm not the only one watching. I like the show, but I think of it more as eye candy than serious drama. But this episode totally got my attention!
It is definitely a trend these days to have season-long arcs in all one-hour drama shows. But usually they are smart enough to also have a complete short story driving each episode, so the out of context viewer still has something to enjoy. Often that luxury goes out the window in a season finale, though. I can live with that.
And any episode that gets Kono into a swimsuit before the opening credits even end, well, that's great writing in my book!

Finally watched the season opener on DVR. They tidied things up quite nicely!
McGarrett is clearly a madman, too! The way he escapes from his predicament would have seemed over the top beyond belief, except that they added all the usual frantic music and camera tricks to remind us that we're really watching a live-action cartoon. I kept thinking, if Bruce Willis gets too old for "Die Hard 19," we've got our next John McClane right here.
And yet another episode where Kono is in a bathing suit right at the start. I approve.

The episode surprised me. I expected them to take several shows to clear McGarrett. A few conveniences in the writing (the hidden camera) that would have been much more satisfying if more effort (and at least another show) was put into it. But, the surprise ending left me waiting for next week.
With regards to the opening shot, we need to see more on her sitting on her surf board deep in thought.

OK, 5-0 is testing my patience this year so far. They have some good running plots setting up (Is Kono under deep cover?), but godalmighty there is some crappy situation writing going on.
Last week the team is in a grocery store, looking for a cult ranch, a member from the cult shows up, spots them, takes off in a jeep. The store owner draws the team a map of the compound, saddles up a team of horses and beat the guy on jeep without the horses breaking a walk.
This week the bad guy is going to shove a Navy Seal out of an airplane, after drugging him. McGarret and the team dont have time to call the airport to ground the plane before it takes off.. but they do have time to get in another plane and have McGarrett skydive out of the second plane, and rescue the Seal by clipping together and buddy diving. BTW- McGarrett pulled the chute at 1000 feet, yet the bad guy was on the ground and arrested before McGarrett and the Seal hit the ground.
Crap.. pure crap

They are ruining the show. Why did they need to add the guy from Lost? I thought the cast was fine.
After clearing McGarrett in the first show of the season in the first 30 minutes, I have kind of lost my interest. It's not going to make a third season if they keep fucking with it.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Are you trying to take this show seriously? It's just good clean check-your-brain-at-the-door eye candy. Especially Kono. And Superman McGarret. I like it just the way it is.
And he isn't the guy from Lost. He's the guy from Millenium and X-Files. I also like the sexy blonde profiler they added in to "spy" on the team. She's already gone native, I think.

The show was fine from last year. There was no need to add new characters.
You didn't need to check your brain at the door in the original Five-0.

This week was the best of the season. Lots of eye candy, great action, and I was right ... (Is Kono under deep cover?) YEP!

Yes, it was good. And some great guest stars: Billy Baldwin and Tom Sizemore! When did he get out of the slammer, anyway?
Only thing I would have changed: it should have been beach volleyball, not gym volleyball.

5-0/NCISLA crossover... I never figured they were even in the same universe. How long before Gibbs gives Danno a dope slap?

Either one or both need help in the ratings.
We do not watch NCIS LA. I don't care for Ice Pick or what ever the fuck his name is.

Ice Pick was on Magnum, P.I., played by the immortal Elisha Cook Jr. But I don't watch NCIS:LA either. It just seems too "ordinary."

I agree about NCISLA, bland and a weak shadow of the original... BUT the other half loves it so I may get to view it involuntarily while online in the evening.
