Richard Hawley- The c.d. "Coles Corner"
soft, surreal, I highly recommend this artist for easy listening and contemplation.
"Born Under a Bad Sign" is my favorite.

Taken from his web site; Richard Hawley is a singer songwriter from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He has released three full length albums (Late Night Final, Lowedges and current album Coles Corner) and a Mini album entitled Richard Hawley. He is best known now as a singer of heartfelt and beautiful songs but has a long musical history as a guitarist. www.richardhawley.co.uk/

yes, that all sounds lovely, but what i am looking for is something softly surreal, but contemperary

teehee, thanks Gary I couldn't have said that better myself! Beebster, i have all your posts printed out, and i read them aloud to myself before i go to sleep. Sometimes, the clarity of your work is so poignant, and the poignancy of your work is so clear that it moves me to tears. Truly, the nights i have spent with your words have been the best nights ever, at least until you started smooching me elsewhere today... Zilla (still wishing she were in hawaii though)

Beebster, i have all your posts printed out, and i read them aloud to myself before i go to sleep. Just so long as you don't turn them over to the police to use as evidence, I don't care *what* you do with the hard copies. Go to Hawaii if you must, but you will never find a volcano that can rock your world like me

OK, but just as long as you send the note to my father. He doesn't scare me as much as my mother does. And he lives far, far away ... so he cannot spank me.

The show was sold out but we decided to drive downtown and see if we could get tickets off the sidewalk. As it turned out the box office sold us tickets anyway, the downside was the club was jam packed. The show was wonderful and Richard Hawley and group played fantastic.
He has a pleasant dry humor and seems to enjoy talking to the audience between sets. If he comes to your area check him out.
He did these popular songs.
Born Under a Bad Sign
Tonight The Streets Are Ours

That's a very good observation and comparison. I didn't think of that and I liked Orbison too, including Raul Malo...The Maverics...etc...that smooth gentle sound.
