I am currently sooooo fucking pissed off at the moment.... The TSA decided to open and inspect my bag when I left MSP this morning, no big deal..... NOT!!! I have an Atlantic hard sided suitcase that cost me a SHITLOAD of money when I originally bought it about 10 years ago and it has served me quite well over the years. The lock on it broke about 5 years ago and hasn't worked since, which is no big deal since the lock was not a TSA approved one and I didn't use it anyway.... which brings me to why I am sooooo pissed off.... whoever inspected my bag didn't have the God given sense of a fucking common criminal... they literally took a screwdriver or something similar and forced the latch open on my suitcase, when all they had to do was hit the little thumb button and it would have opened right up. So when I got my suitcase at baggage claim, it was being held closed with TAPE with the TSA logo on it and my shit was falling all out of it... the Delta lady at baggage claim was all apologizing for it, but it wasn't Delta that broke my God Damn suitcase. Here is how nicely they repacked it after inspecting it... Here is the outside latch... Here is the inside part of the latch, you can clearly see that it is bent and has metal marks on it where they pried it off... not to mention they fucked up the part where it meets with the actual outside of the case....

RH -- I had an amusing line to post about your tube of Vasoline for Men, but I refrained because I sense you might be lacking any chance of humor right now. Maybe someone will make good on the damages to your suitcase, hope it all works out.

That is ignorance beyond all comprehension: to force the lock without even TRYING it to see if it WAS locked! Your outrage is waaaayyyyy justified. I hope the airline compensates you for it.
Although, having lost a favorite piece of luggage to airline damage myself, the compensation NEVER does replace what you loved.
Sorry for your loss!........Jake

TSA has gotten to big for it pants. I think more airports should go to private companies for the security screening. At SFO they use a private company and the people are very polite and lines move right along.
I would complain to TSA and see if you get any kind of a reply from them.

AN Italian friend sent us some Italian chocolates for Christmas. He emailed asking us if we liked them - we hadn't received them. He followed up and found out that they were "destroyed accidentally in security" (were taken home by some lardass) but they didn't bother to notify anyone.
We shipped a couple of small bronze statues from Thailand several years ago. I had to pay a $65 xray fee to TSA in Long Beach, then pick them up in Dallas and sign for them and fill out some forms. They broke the crate open and didn't nail it back and one of the statues was damaged. Tough shit. They didn't give a shit.
