I believe the correct answer is "the second most ever" (for Dallas anyways)

"second most ever" is properly parsed as "it was hotter some time in the past."

No, properly, "It was hotter only once in the past"
Edited: Although I suppose it would also be proper to say "Every year in recorded history except one was colder"

No, properly, "It was hotter only once in the past" Edited: Although I suppose it would also be proper to say "Every year in recorded history except one was colder" I would read it as the second most days over 100 degrees in the relatively short period that such records have been kept in Dallas. The winter temps etc. would have to be figured in to arrive at how the whole year ranked. Now that the "hockey stick graph" has been exposed as a fraud, I suppose it is necessary to use a new metric.

Which is what I said, is it not? My "bolding" above The winter temps etc. would have to be figured in to arrive at how the whole year ranked.
Now that the "hockey stick graph" has been exposed as a fraud, I suppose it is necessary to use a new metric.a) the entire year was not brought up by anyone until you just did in this point. As we have discussed ad nauseum in the past, NO short term event such as a regional weekend cold snap can be attributed to any long term global trend, be it "cooling" as you would argue, or otherwise. b) the "hockey stick" is only regarded as a fraud by those who do not believe in it anyways, so what is the point?

Speaking of "getting old," so is this climate argument. I have vowed to myself to never start the argument, but I wont back away when the gauntlet is thrown.

Speaking of "getting old," so is this climate argument. 70 here today no rain at all this month. Should be 45 and rainy. Joe
