Well, the year is drawing to a close. And it falls to us, we mavens of the entertainment industry, to assess the damage. So: what are your nominees for the BEST and the WORST new television shows of the year 2010?
Personally, I don't feel qualified to judge any as worst. I've seen some bad ones, but there are many that are probably worse that I didn't waste my time on. But please don't let my reticence stop the rest of you from pontificating.
But, I will nominate some BEST shows: Hawaii 5-0 and Walking Dead make my list for Best Of in the new show category for the year.
Okay, who is next?

The Walking Dead for best new show, definitely....it's even filmed right here in Atlanta! Very cool to see Spring Street overrun with zombies.... ;D

Best new TV shows
Boardwalk Empire Justified (based on Leonard Elmore short story - may be my favorite) The Big C (on the fence with this as Laura Linney can wear thin fast) The Glades (campy but like reading a Carl Hiaasen novel) The Real L World (a guilty pleasure like watching a train wreck) The Walking Dead
Worst new TV shows
Not gonna happen. I will turn it off after a few minutes and never go back.

Worst- Rizzoli and Isles, V, Caprica (huge disappointment there after Battlestar Galactica)
Best- Hawaii 5-0 (I am fully invested), The Defender (for a fun show not bad)

I guess I'm the only person who liked Rizzoli and Isles! But I'll watch Angie Harmon in anything.

I like the book... I know it's a series, but I only read one...
Not sure how the TV show turned out.

I haven't watched Rizzoli and Isles, but I've read all of the Tess Gerritsen novels about them. They're great books....I guess I haven't watched the show because I'm sure they've changed things about the characters and I'd rather just stick with the familiar, I like it just fine. As much as I like the Bones TV show, the Temperance Brennan in that show is quite different from the Temperance Brennan in the Kathy Reichs novels, which I love.

Temperance is also very inconsistent from episode to episode (on TV, that is; I haven't read the books). Generally, she's clueless about pop culture ("I don't know what that means!"), but then once in a while she'll do something out of character, like pick up a guitar and play Foreigner songs perfectly!

I have only watched a few new TV shows and admit I haven't heard of most of the new shows mentioned here.
I have watched Hawaii Five O and can't say I really like it a lot, but it's OK. Same for The Defenders. If I miss these no biggie.
However I try to always watch Tom Selleck on Blue Bloods, its not that the show is so terrific but he....well never mind. I'm so glad its moving to Wednesday from Friday. I'd usually miss it driving to the cottage until we close the place up in October. Then I'd have to find time to watch it on demand.

I tried watching Blue Bloods, and it isn't bad. It just seems so.... redundant. Not much different than thousands of other cop shows. Selleck is still Selleck, of course, but he isn't on enough to make it special.
Donny Wahlberg, on the other hand; I never knew how good he was! He's the best reason to watch the show.

Best new comedy. @$#% My Dad Says with William Shattner. At first I didn't care for but I really kind of taken a liking to it.
