On days I work on campus, my commute is about 20 minutes. On days I work at home, it is about 20 seconds. But I've had jobs with a 45 minute commute. That sucks.

The longest commute I ever had was many years ago when I lived in Queens -- 1 hr. 15 min. on the subway to Manhattan, each way.

My communte is 57 minutes on the 'express' train. That does not include the commute to and from the train from home or the office. I must be a little off to have continued my 2.5 hours in commute time 5 days a week for the past 16 years. Leave at 7am and home at 6pm....but it does pay for our 24 days in Jamaica every year.

My 45-minute commute was by car, and it was back in the eighties when I kept my music on cassette tapes. One 90-minute cassette was perfect: listen to Side A on the way to the office, and Side B on the way home!

My shortest commute ever -- not counting the occasions when I work from home -- was when I worked at a software company in the Union Square area of Manhattan. It was a 10 minute subway ride, 5 min. walk to/from home/office! Ah, how I miss those days (for reasons in addition to the short commute) ...

Given the weather where you are, be glad you don't have to commute every day.

Better believe it. But the wife hardly ever complains, the roads are usually in pretty good shape unless its the weekend or school is running delayed/canceled, then the road commission isnt out plowing as urgently as usual.

I just moved our office last Wednesday. The trip went from exactly 1 mile to 2.3 miles so my commute is now 5 minutes.

I have a 12 minute drive to my office/warehouse unless I take a quick detour to Starbucks, that adds 2 more minutes of drive time.
