I suck at this game--know barely any lyrics after 1982 to boot.
Here's one of my favs though just to add something:
I was spawned in a ditch by a mother who left me there, naked and cold and too hungry to cry.
I couldn't blame her I'm sure she left hoping That I had the good sense to die. Then of course there's my father I'm told that young ladies Can point to their fathers With maidenly pride
Mine was some regiment Here for an hour I can't even tell you which side. So of course I became as befitted my delicate birth: the most casual bride of the murdering scum of the earth.

Chris
I REALLY thought about this for the last day and my only thought was Alice Cooper maybe... Googled it and I will admit to being embarrassed by just "how close" I was. I will leave the answer to someone else.
In the mean time...
Really don't mind if you sit this one out. My words but a whisper -- your deafness a SHOUT. I may make you feel but I can't make you think. Your sperm's in the gutter -- your love's in the sink. So you ride yourselves over the fields and you make all your animal deals and your wise men don't know how it feels to be ...

Well we are big rock singers, we've got golden fingers And we're loved everywhere we go We sing about beauty and we sing about truth At ten thousand dollars a show We take all kind of pills to give us all kind of thrills But the thrill we've never known Is the thrill that'll get you when you get your picture

Cover Of The Rolling Stone Dr. Hook
here one:
Did you write the book of love, And do you have faith in God above, If the Bible tells you so? Do you believe in rock ’n roll, Can music save your mortal soul, And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

The Day the Music died....and we were singing: Bye Bye Miss American Pie....
American Pie Don McClean
Oh good, now this Hedo classic that never ends will be in my head all evening...but wait--that's not a bad thing because I usually only hear it at Hedo and I'm WARM there, which is a good memory since I'm COLD here.
No one got my "Man of La Mancha" tune above--Aldonza sang it to Don Quixote.
So I'll try an even more obscure lyric from another fav musical:
Toward the left or the right? Toward the day or the night? Toward the dark or the light? Only my heart can know, Only my heart can know.
I couldn't find it on Google either...bwa-ha ha ha!

Zilla (for a listen to part of the sammy version go here and click on the song "At The Crossroads" for a sample)

JEEZ, Zilla! That was really something stupid! Go back to Counting Flowers On The Wall, Nancy! Zilla (bonus lyric: This song is about the time that I was ridin' my motorcycle. Going down a mountain road, at 150 miles an hour, playin' my guitar. On one side of the mountain road there was a mountain, and on the other side there was nothin' - there was a cliff in the air.)

Zilla,
"Here I stand at the crossroads of life Childhood behind me, the future to come, And alone."
That's another line from the song "At the Crossroads" from Dr. Doolittle. I just learned that Sammy Davis Jr. did sing it after all when he did a Dr. Dolittle album.
I can't download music (no speakers and on dialup), but were you able to find the full lyrics--likely my own stupidity is keeping me from finding it. And I didn't recognize the words you had from the song....help!

Zilla (who really wouldn't have guessed randomly without saying so, and sure as hell wouldn't have guessed randomly within an hour of you posting the clue!)

And I didn't recognize the words you had from the song....help! Ah! and here is where the confusion started. the words i quoted were the next clue to a different song, a song that the cheater Nancy Sinatra got (a cheater because it was a song by her and her dad). I should have put Next lyrics or something. sorry! Zilla (bonus lyrics: "There's a picture opposite me of my primitive ancestry which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free though I respect that a lot i'd be fired if that were my job after killing jason off and countless screaming argonauts"

how about this one:
Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on) If you feel like letting go, (hold on) When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on
