First off, I understand the risks of working for someone like FEMA... Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate with everyone's plans. So anyway, I was all set to head to the house for a couple weeks of R & R after being deployed up here for two months... then between yesterday and today, we have gotten about TEN INCHES of rain across the southern part of the state... My boss came to us this morning and asked us how we felt about snow... cause there is no way in hell we will be leaving here anytime in the near future. The reports that are coming in from across the southern part of the state are pretty bad all the way around... there have been mudslides, major roadways are flooded, and a shitload of people have been evacuated from their homes as the rivers and creeks are probably going to see new record flood stages.

I didn't know you were working for FEMA. Are there any DLA humanitarian units involved as well? Sorry about you being STUCK. At least you still have internet access!

Jake, I work IT... I don't ever actually go to the field, my job keeps me where I like to be... in the rear with the gear, so I really don't know what all is going on in the field. I originally was sent up here for a series of tornados that screamed through the state in June... we were closing up that disaster and almost had the job done, everything was all packed up and ready to go back on the trucks to be shipped back to HQ... then today happened... now we are unpacking it all and setting up again... fuck me.

Tell me about it. I spent most of yesterday pressure washing mud from T/S Hermine.
