This came up on another website, and surprisingly few were cited in the discussion: What bands have more than one writer of their songs, preferably bands where most of the members contribute songs on a regular basis?
The Beatles, of course, and the Moody Blues are prime examples.
What other well-known bands share the songwriting duties among many of their members? They can work together on songs, or each write their own songs in turn, or whatever other arrangement works for them.......Jake

I am on a search. I know many of the new bands like Green Day, Burn Halo and Shinedown do some song writing together but I wnat to be certain first. We check back in soon.

Greenday and Shinedown do share in the song writing between the members. Burn Halo lead vocalist does most if the writing and they just replaced 3 members of the band so I am not sure.
There are more out there but it takes lots of time to look them up.

I know Green Day, but never heard of your other ones. I guess having grandkids keeps you current!
I was thinking of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young (they all contributed songs). Also, Chicago, where Lamm, Kath, Pankow, and Cetera all wrote songs.

I still listen to the local rock station so it kind of keeps me current.

I think all members of Led Zepplin contributed to their songs (I know that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page wrote most of them and John Paul Jones contributed to a few, just not sure about John Bonham ~ maybe on Moby Dick, his drum solo song?)
I also think several members of Pink Floyd collaborated on their songs and maybe various members of Genesis and Supertramp did as well. I'm pretty sure all the members of the Eagles contributed to their huge hit list too.
I'm still stuck in the 70s too!

Aerosmith is another band that they all put in their say. Mostly Tyler & Perry but the other helped.

Thought of another one (also from the 70s) - Styx. Much like the Moody Blues, it was easy to tell who wrote the song just from the style......Jake

Joseph, you are the most heavy-metal grandfather I know.

If you get the right band it's good music. Some of it is just noise but I eliminate them right away.
