"It's like livin' here is like livin' in a jungle ... ya gotta survive!"
Ya mon ...
A Brooklyn man was taken into police custody Friday for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death in a jealous rage in his Brownsville home.
Police arrived at an apartment building on Eastern Parkway near St. Johns Place at about 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon after receiving a tip from the suspect's friend.
Initially, police heard from the tipster that the 58-year-old suspect had confessed to three murders, after coming home and finding his girlfriend with two men.
However, when the suspect let police into his apartment around 3:30 p.m. Friday, they only found Deborah Blount, 51, dead in a bloodied back bedroom. It is unclear if the two were married, but it appears the couple lived together.
Sources said the suspect claimed he chopped up the two men's bodies and dumped them in New Jersey, but that a police review of 48 hours of apartment surveillance video showed no one else entered the couple's apartment.
One neighbor told NY1 she was trying to fall asleep around midnight Friday when she heard a commotion, but did not realize it was cause for concern.
"I heard a lot of screaming for help and I heard a lot of pit bulls, dog barking. So, I thought my neighbor was playing with the dog," she said.
Blount moved into the small apartment building recently, so none of the neighbors who spoke with NY1 on Friday knew much about her. Yet now, they will never forget her.
"I seen the man last night. They was talking at the door and everything looked all right," said a neighbor.
"I don't know why people do the things that they do. Life is precious," said another.
"I'm just totally shocked. I feel bad for the lady and feel bad that this happened to her," said a third.
As of late Friday, police had not found a murder weapon and the medical examiner was still determining the cause of Blount's death.
