A very close friend of my oldest daughter passed away Wed night, they young lady (15) was also the daughter of one of my lifelong friends.
The wake was Fri night and the funeral Sat, and although I didn't know the young lady very well, the sense of loss was crushing, but at the same time I don't think I have ever felt such pride in how a group of young men and women acted in the face of such a great tragedy.
The young lady that passed was part of a EMS/Firefighter cadet program that my daughter is also a part of. The cadets organized and performed a full Fireman's funeral honor guard and stood watch over the casket at the wake Fri night and Sat they concluded the funeral services with the reading of the Fireman's Prayer and the ringing of the bell three times to indicate the end of a call. They presented the family with her cadet's helmet and the flag that was draped on the coffin. The cadets done this mostly on their own and I can honestly say, they did a fantastic job and the pride I felt helped to ease the loss. I am proud of all the young men and women that are part of this amazing program.

My Condolences RH.....Has the cause of her death been Determined yet? Tis a sad thing to see someone so young Pass on....... They are not sure what the hell happened, she had been sick for a few days and they know she got up in the middle of the night, they heard her in the bathroom. They found her Wed morning unresponsive and called 911, by the time the ambulance arrived she was dead. Whether or not she took something that she had a reaction too or she done something on purpose is yet to be determined. Knowing the kind of kid she was I personally think it was a tragic accident, but being a small community the rumors have been flying about all kinds of scenarios. All I know is a wonderful and very loved young lady is gone, it doesn't matter why.
