I've gotten into the habit of listing to Pandora "radio" on my office computer while working. Very few commercials, good selection, and I don't have to actually pick out an album or mix.
But.... after so many hours in a month, they cut you off! You either have to do without until a new month begins, or pay 99 cents for the rest of the month. OR you can pay $36 for a full year. I don't know why the $36 is so much higher than 12x0.99, so I'm assuming you get something extra for it.
Anyone know for sure? What you get for the .99 and what you get for the 36? Does anyone pay for it? How does it work out?
Thanks!.......Jake

Nobody, eh? Okay, you lazy bastards forced me to go and research it myself through your selfishness. Apparently, you get 40 hours per month for free. But, you also have to click a button saying "Yes, I'm still here" or some such every hour or so. They don't want to be "playing to an empty house" as they still pay royalties on every song they play. They also play occasional commercials. But they are short and non-obnoxious.
According to the FAQ on the Pandora website, the $.99 just gets you unlimited hours for the rest of the month, but nothing else ch-ch-changes. You still get the hourly-or-so "please click," and you get the short commercials.
The $36/year gets you NO commercials, much longer "please click" cycles (like five hours, I think), and unlimited "skip this song" options per day. You also get a higher bit-rate, and get to download a free-standing app so you don't need to use a browser window.
Is it worth it or not? I haven't decided yet. But them's are the facts at least. I'm thinking maybe I'll not renew my Norton when it expires in a week, switch to Avast, and put the money toward the full Pandora subscription........Jake

Jake,
Georgette mentioned this thread to me a while back but forgot to get back to you. I'm using Pandora on my Droid and at work.

Does that help? ;D ;D ;D

So are you using the free version, the 99-cents version, or the $36/year version?

I have two word... Sirius Radio I've listened to Sat Radio in rental cars, where it is excellent. It has some good stuff, but it is inferior to Pandora for office applications in several respects: 1) You not only need a subscription, you need special hardware as well. 2) You need a sky view of the satellite for reception. 3) There are lots of stations, but you can't invent your own.

Wow, I can't believe it's been a year! Thank Allah I posted this thread so I could check the date I started my one-year subscription. They just notified me that I'm due for another $36. I paid it without blinking an eye. Well worth it.
