Muffy and I attended the final Rams game of the 2009 season yesterday. We rarely attend football games -- in fact, never. Tickets, until the last few years, have been tough to come by, and the whole experience a bit too expensive for the casual fan. Luckily, our seats were gifts of a friend who took us along. The face value was $120 each; parking was $40; beer $8.75; and a hot dog $6 bucks! (Perhaps the government should look into placing one of their subsidized stands inside the stadium.)
Being "Fan Appreciation Day" there were plenty of giveaways of Rams memorabilia, as well as things people would actually want, like flat screen TV's and trips. We didn't win anything big, but did snag a couple of $25 discounts on airline tickets. You'll notice it's not exactly a packed house.
We had great seats in the fifth row on the 45 yard line. We were THIS CLOSE to Kyle Boller!!
Who the hell is Kyle Boller, you ask? Why, he's 'Mr. Carrie Prejean' of course. She attends all his games apparently, though we didn't see her. I imagine she's in a luxury box eating Nachos or some other non-homosexual snack.
Since the opponent this game was the San Fransisco 49ers, we did have the good fortune of seeing fan-favorite and future Hall of Famer Issac Bruce in his final game. I'm sure Number 80 (his Rams number for many years) will soon be enshrined in the 'Ring of Fame' that circles the dome.
My cheapie point-and-shoot couldn't keep up with the quickness of the action on the field...
...and did only slightly better without the zoom.
It was a tense game, with the home team pulling ahead early on with this Field Goal.
In the end though, the Rams managed to squeak by with another valuable loss to end the season a near perfect 1-15. As the final seconds counted down, the remaining crowd cheered "We're Number 1!" since we had, in fact, secured the First Round Draft Pick yet again.
