I can't believe I didn't hear about this until today: The US government has banned incandescent light bulbs! They are to be phased out between 2012 and 2014. Much of Europe is already in the process! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase-out_of_incandescent_light_bulbsWTF business is this of ANY government? If I want to pay for the bulbs and pay for the juice they consume, that's my right. Isn't this supposed to be a free country? This burns me up!! I HATE that puny, flickery light that you get from CFL bulbs. Grrrrr... Am I wrong here?

No, I agree. CFL bulbs suck. We tried them. The lasted about two days before I removd them and put the garbage. The light they put out is less than adequate and you almost need to double the amount of lights that you have. So what do you really save?
Remember it's not really your money, you are just borrowing it from the Government.

for buckling under to the Democrats. I don't mind the CFL bulbs for apps that require long burning and steady intensity, but they take a few minutes to reach full intensity and do not work with dimmer switches.

That's right. Let's not let the fucker off the hook who signed it. Another good argument AGAINST term limits.

Good point Beeb, no sense buying things I wont need.
BTW- I did some checking, this was a somewhat bi-curious-partisan effort. House vote was 314-100. Senate 59-40
