Hear ye, hear ye! It's the most wonderful time of the year! That's right, it's DEAD POOL TIME!!
Once again, it's time to submit your list of the ten celebs you most expect to croak in the upcoming twelve months. Whoever gets the most stiffs by the end of the year, wins. What do you win, you ask? Why, you win a hearty handshake, a pat on the back, and the warm glow of success. In other words, not a fucking thing.
Playing in the game is simple: Just post your list of your favorite ten coffin-candidates on this thread. Feel free to edit it up until midnight on December 31 if you get new evidence or better hunches. After that time, I'll lock the thread so that nobody can accuse you of tampering with it after the deadline.
We can have a separate thread for discussing progress throughout 2010. If Gordon continues his excellent tradition, he can kick it off with a Master Compilation (tm).
Good luck to everyone. Except for our lucky nominees, of course!......Jake

I should be able to handle that Master Compilation © ® once again, it beats the Rose Bowl Parade, even in HD

Bryant Gumbel is a good one. He had some quote about "I had some treatment, but now it's over." He didn't specify if the treatment was over, or he was.

If I put my neighbor's yappy dog on the list and then poison him, does that count?

Tex, your dog poisoning scheme, while admirable in its nefariousness, does violate two of the prime tenets of dead-pooling: Number One, you only get to pick celebrities. And Number Two, you aren't allowed to kill them yourself.
But I'm hardly a stickler for rules.......Jake

Time to peruse the ghoulish celebrity photos in the supermarket tabloids.

Ive been trolling the tabloids of the last few weeks... like K said in Men in Black "Best investigative reporting on the planet. But go ahead, read the New York Times if you want. They get lucky sometimes."

Reminder to contestants: Last year (2008), we ended up with a four-way tie for first place. I suggested a tie-breaker scheme of assigning points based on positions in the list. That is, a stiff at the top of your list gets you 10 points, second on the list gets you 9 points, and bottom of the list gets you one point. But this is ONLY used to break ties. More stiffs always beats fewer stiffs.
Anyway, we did NOT use that for the 2008 lists (hence the four-way tie) since it was only suggested after the fact. But it WILL be used for the 2009 lists. And... you should make sure you keep it in mind when compiling your 2010 lists.
Sorry to be so picayune about things, but systems always complicate themselves when studied too closely.
You DO have a list in preparation, don't you? You don't want to miss out on all the fun when the bodies start hitting the floor.......Jake

Barbara Billingsley Bobby Bowden Bob Feller Ernie Harwell Dolores Hope Henry Kissinger Bernie Madoff Don Pardo I.M. Pei George Steinbrenner
Alphabetical and not in order of suggested send off even though this puts me at a disadvantage with the tie breaker rules.

I considered Jack Lalanne. I can remember him on television when I was a small child. He is old as dirt, but I saw an interview with him a few months back and he looked pretty good. The carrot juice is agreeing with him.
