Sorry if I got your hopes up. As far as I know, there are no plans to do a reincarnation of "The Rockford Files." But there should be!! After all, Stephen J. Cannell is still alive, and presumably still has bills to pay. And admit it: when you read the thread title, your heart rate kicked up a notch, hoping that it was true!
Assuming that someone (probably at USA Network) decides to go ahead with it, what should they do?
For one thing, should they retro-set it in the 70s? Or transplant it to modern day? And how would they morph the iconic phone answering machine into modern terms? With voice mail? Or maybe email?
And who should be cast? As Jimmy Rockford? As Rocky? As Angel? As Detective Becker?
So many questions. And it is up to US to answer them!.......Jake

I really don't think they can redo Rockford Files. Just like Magnum, I don't think anyone can follow those roles.

I have thought about this a bit, and I cant come up with a good replacement. The only name that does comes to mind is Bruce Willis, but I cant say that he would be good in the role

Funny. I had Richard Simmons in mind.

Well, if you team Bruce Willis up with Cybill Shepherd, you pretty much get the same thing

I'd rather team Bruce Willis with Ashton Kutcher -- THEN, I might get the same thing.

I was thinking Mel Gibson. He did a creditable Maverick, so why not Jimmy Rockford?
