Well, for the first time in the 32+ year of marriage, Ann and I are dogless. Tori, compulsive ball retriever, table scrape mooch expert, and cat babysitter. She was 11Tori had to be put down due to a severe case of spleen/liver cancer. We really noticed the trouble starting about a month ago, when she became really bloated. XRays and blood tests showed nothing, and the bloating would come and go (we thought it was food related). We took her in for an exploratory surgery yesterday, that’s when the vet found out that the “bloat’ was due to blood pooling from internal bleeding. She had dozens of tumors on her liver. We had the vet put her down while she was still on the operating table. Haven't picked up her toys or blankets yet, maybe later.

Wow Gordon...I am so sorry for you guys. They aren't just dogs are they? I feel your pain for such a beautiful pooch. I'll toast my first cup of coffee to Tori this morning.

Thanks everyone, the word seems to have gotten out already, the squirrels and chipmunks are having a field days at the bird feeders, attacking with reckless abandon.

Sorry too Gordon. My last dog was with me through 3 marriages. I still slip and call the dog I have now by his name. You did the right thing.

Found out yesterday that my youngest brothers 4 year old Shepherd died Friday too. Anaphylactic shock, apparently from a bee sting.
