Either that or make the Monday after the Super Bowl a national holiday.

Either that or make the Monday after the Super Bowl a national holiday. That will work. With the NFL season over the could fill the day with NBA games. Joe.

As the Giants played in the one and only American football game I have ever been to, at Wembley Stadium, London, last October, I think it would be rude not to be cheering for them in the Superbowl on Sunday. Unfortunately, due to the time difference, I'll have to be up half the night to watch it. Simon You should be able to catch the last quarter over a bowl of Weetabix before setting out for work Monday morningWeetabix? Fuck that shit! Have the traditional Super Bowl foot-long haggis!

Back to the Superbowl.
The media BS on this game up to this point has been rather low key compared to other Super Bowls. So does that mean we might actually have a good game? No BS= Competitive game.
Joe.

Whether this game is any good is going to hang on Eli. NY measures up well with the PATS on both sides of the ball and you can count on Tom Brady to be steady, at the very least. So for NY to be in the game by the end of the 4 quarter is going to depend on how well Eli plays. If he plays poorly then NY will be out of it by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

I agree -- this is a make or break game for Eli, at least in terms of his overall rep, if not his standing with the team. So far, he has held up unusually well under the pressure of the playoff games. Is that because his time has finally come or is he just long overdue for a meltdown?

So far, he has held up unusually well under the pressure of the playoff games. Is that because his time has finally come or is he just long overdue for a meltdown? The PATS are undefeated for a reason so this game is their's to lose. I spent 18 years coaching QBs and to me Eli has plenty of talent not to melt down, play well and get out of his brothers shadow. Eli was at Ole Miss and I watched him play against Auburn and Alabama for 4 years. He's never been in this situation before but he seems to be in a groove so if he can correctly read the PATS defense, throw accurate passes to open receivers and move the chains he can keep Brady on the side lines and eat up the clock. NY has to score some kind of points almost every time they get the ball, but they can't all be field goals. The PATS are going to get into the end zone, so NY's defense has got to make them work for every inch and not give up anything cheap. I say all this not knowing what turn overs may happen. The PATS are strong enough to have 1-3 turn overs and recover but not NY. NY needs their A game, if they bring it we'll have a damn good super bowl.

As far as the Giants eating up the clock is concerned, that's up to their running backs more than Eli.

As far as the Giants eating up the clock is concerned, that's up to their running backs more than Eli. Not necessarily. Eli can't do the blocking or the running but he has to beat the PATS defense with good audibles at the line and check the new play into what ever weakness they have shifted into plus have a good short to medium passing game to help open up the running game. The running backs won't get squat if Eli is fooled at the line and the PATS have them outnumbered at the point of attack. For all phases of the NY offense to hit on all cylinders it hangs on Eli keeping them in the best position.

I agree -- this is a make or break game for Eli, at least in terms of his overall rep, if not his standing with the team. Maybe not he's young. Dan Marino lost Super Bowl XIX when he was a rookie and it didn't hurt his career. Veteran QB's Fran Tarkington lost 3 in 4 years withe Vikings, Jim Kelly lost 4 in a row with the Bills, Roger Staubach lost 2 with the Cowboys even John Elway lost 3 in 4 years at the beginning of his career and it didn't effect his reputation or his status with the Denver Broncos. The win would get him out of his brothers shadow, but only if he has a good year in 08. Joe.

Q: And what do all of those guys have in common?
A: None of them played in the media fishbowl that is NYC! (except for Fran, but that was early in his career, before he established himself)
