I wouldn't call Nick Lachey a smart guy either..... No, but he's got money, he's famous, he's good looking AND he's three - dimensional. Homer is only famous (maybe infamous, really).

Seeing Fabio turn into an old man was a good one.
The Dove Self-Esteem Fund was Laimbrain! A fund for girls with low self-esteem? What kind of stupid shit is that? We didn't have this kind of crap when I was a kid. We were told to deal with it, who cares what other people think, etc, etc.
What's next? The Trojan Self-Esteem Fund for guys with tiny peckers?
Give me a friggin break!

None of the ads really stuck out as outstanding this year. They are seemed kind of ho-hum.

The streaker sheep was probably the best one to me, but I also liked the one where the guys were sitting on their roofs drinking their Bud out of their tool boxes. One was "cleaning the gutters", the neighbor was "adjusting the satellite" and the third one was "fixing the hole in the roof". Now that one was funny also....leave it to Budweiser.

The best part of the Super Bowl commercials is being able to watch the re-caps the next day on the news depicting the best commercials without having to watch the super bowl.
(Although, I did make of point of watching the Stones at half time - the sound was less than what it should be, but I just get mesmerized watching these legends.)

The Fed-Ex stoneage was funny but thought the Bud commercial with the Clydsedale colt pulling the wagon and the grown-ups secretly pushing was touching.
Respect,
Nemo
PS. What the fuck was with the National Anthem?.....I can't stand that type of disrespect in the name of soul. Sing the fuckin song the way it was written.

I'm with Nemo on the national anthem. Just sing it and don't feel compelled to write a new arrangement.

Yes, everybody has to try and be a Jimi Hendrix. I, too, wish they would attempt to sing this difficult song as closely as they can to the way it was intended.

Normally, I look forward to the Super Bowl commercials. I was disappointed this year. But I did love the Clydesdale colt pulling the wagon! (Of course I am a cowgirl to the bone) I agree with everyone's sentiments regarding the National Anthem.

okay Cher I will comment on the Dove Fund ad.... agreed it did not belong in the super bowl show but there is a place for it in society just like girl scouts / boy scouts and if the fund is used to set up clubs or stuff like that GOOD! You are right we were basically told to "deal with it" but I dealt with it by going camping with the girl scouts. I will have to go watch the ad again to see if they do say where the money goes, I do remember reading that a Girl Scout troop from Long Island is the voices singing.

Post by Cherbunny on Feb 7, 2006 9:21:01 GMT -6
Nope, they don't mention it. If you go to the website, it does say for the Girl Scouts.
So...what's next? The Boy Scouts? What kind of ad will they use from their sponsor?

So...what's next? The Boy Scouts? What kind of ad will they use from their sponsor? A commercial to promote contest a contest they are co-sponsoring with a certain movie studio to win a free, all-expenses-paid camping trip on Brokeback Mountain with the Catholic priest of your choice.
