Hey, gang, I just realized that we can have all the sub-boards we want!
BB has his own sub-board. Does anyone else want their own sub-board? I can create them for anybody. You can even be the moderator of your own sub-board. It might be fun.
If interested, just lemme know.......Jake

Jake
Can sub-boards be set up with password protection? i.e. set aside a non-public area of the board with the password sent out to those who request??

Yes, they can. Although I'm not altogether sure that is in the spirit of the TNMC. But I could be convinced if there were a good reason for it......Jake

The more I think about the password idea, the more I don't care for it. If someone really wants a private board for personal exchanges, I'd be happy to give them advice on setting up their own ProBoards message board (they are free), but I'd rather keep this one wide open.......Jake

This has all the makings of the end of TNMC as we know it. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

Jakey, I saw your newest sub-board this morning and it gave me an idea. I can't believe you didn't think of it yourself! Why not have a sub-board just for NSFW stuff? You could put it in the "Whatever" forum (or anywhere else you deem appropriate). I think it might go a long way in alleviating resentments and tension around here if it there was a sub-board designated for all NSFW material.
Anybody who wants to post stuff that's NSFW would put it in a dedicated forum just for naughty pics, videos, etc. And anybody who doesn't want to view that sort of stuff could avoid it.
What do you say?

That's a very good idea Hazel. Perhaps 'Generally Speaking' , 'The four o'clock joke club', 'Mordor' and 'Whatever' forums could each have their own NSFW sub-board so that postings remain in context.
Simon
Edited to add : I mentioned those four forums in particular because they seem to be where NSFW postings get made.

I love this, it took a while but, like nuclear mushroom clouds, sub-board proliferation has begun. Dont make me call in the UN or NATO to negotiate this.

I especially like your suggestion about putting a sub-board in those four forums. Maybe the "boss" will like it, too. ;D And since not everybody reads every forum perhaps the Admin could send out a mass PM to all the members so so that nobody misses the memo. Just a thought. I love this, it took a while but, like nuclear mushroom clouds, sub-board proliferation has begun. Dont make me call in the UN or NATO to negotiate this. Gordo -- if the Admin is not open to negotiations then I'll be forced to withhold sexual favors from him.

You mean the NSFW sub-board or withholding sex from the Admin?

Well, just keep in mind that if he gets all backed up, then he'll develop pointy ears like Spock -- as he's a devout Trekkie, he'd probably prefer that.

I'm always curious how if someone wants to respond to someone's non-NSFW post with a photo that is naughty that they mark the thread as NSFW so no one gets in trouble.
Can BB, the artful dodger boy, help me out here with some explanation?

I just tried renaming the Subject line in a post and it didn't rename the entire thread -- only the Subject line on my post. It doesn't surprise me that the ProBoards software won't allow this -- maybe the Admin can do it, but I'm sure it's more work/trouble than Jake would want to undertake.
What you *might* consider doing as an alternative is the "link to post" feature -- IOW, let's say Jake *does* set up that NSFW sub-board. You post your reply in *that* section; then, go back to the non-NSFW thread and post a reply that links to your NSFW post (but of course you'd have to indicate that your link points to the NSFW section in your non-NSFW reply).
That said, I'm sure the whole thing might just be too much trouble for some people.

Or Jake could give everyone Admin status, then we can all ch-ch-change the name of threads... pure anarchy, I love it!

Whoo-hoo! Most amusing idea, Dr. Goon! What a social experiement that would be...then we could also investigate previously anonymous stuff.
