In Chicago, $10M wouldn't even cover the bribes to the building commissioner. But in Jamaica? It will probably go a bit farther $10 million is a nice round figure isn't it? When independent businesses bandy around figures like that for renovations I'm always a little suspicious... the bar whose new owners have spent $100,000 on a refurb yet all that seems to have happened is a lick of paint and a new carpet. The music venue/club that claims to have have a $500,000 refit yet the only difference is some new exterior signage and new bathrooms. It always sounds good when a business has a new owner and they are throwing around such large, exciting round numbers. However, it remains to be seen if it appears, over the coming weeks and months, whether anything like 10 million gets spent on the old girl, or if they just paper over the cracks and it's just business as usual.
