I watched parts of the speeches last night. I thought Ann Romney was good but the rest of them sucked.

Thanks for the recaps. I didn't watch any of it. I already know how I'm going to vote, so there didn't seem much point. Besides, I have a lot of Burn Notice episodes on the DVR to get through.

I thought she did fine. I like her so far. I didn't know they had 18 grandchildren. I liked that she talked about how much Mitt makes her laugh. I wouldn't have guessed that. He always seems so serious, not that being serious is bad. I watched it all last night but will skip tonight and just catch some bits on-line tomorrow. I wanted to see Ann and Christy speak last night. Christy was good but didn't set the place a blaze like some pundits hoped for. Reports tonight are that Christy was "informed" to "tone it down" by the Romney folks. Time will tell if that was a wise move or not. ............Bob

Wow!!!
I'm not one to watch political conventions. But I happened to be getting in my car to drive home from work just as Paul Ryan was starting his speech. So I listened on the radio.
I was blown away. Not since Ronaldo Magnus (Ronald Reagan to you heathens) have I heard someone speak with such passion, resonance, believability, simplicity, and honesty as I heard from Ryan tonight.
If the Romney/Ryan ticket doesn't win this year, I have no doubt that Ryan will be the presidential nominee in four years, and he will win.*
*If we still have a country, which, if Obama wins a second term, is very much in doubt.

I wasn't impressed. I watched part of the what was going on after the baseball game, but Ryan did not impress me,neither does Romney. Not voting for Obama either.

I am all for helping the helpless, but the left pushes making failure comfortable, which is debilitating rather than uplifting, IMHO.

Let's talk about anything but the issues and track records. Tex, I would be MUCH more enthusiastic to do that if BOTH sides were to actually discuss issues without the means of taking quotations out of context and using only HALF of the facts on any particular subject. Everyone involved, including most here seem satisfied to simply spout the day's talking points from their respective propaganda sources, and have no ability to even admit facts that run counter to "their" sources. So why bother... might as well have some fun with it instead.

So, I've just finished watching Clint give his surreal little speech and it's really difficult to watch one of your long-time movie heroes as a doddering old man on the verge of senility talking to an empty chair. If he was auditioning for the movie, "Ronald Reagan: The Alzheimer's Years", he just may have gotten the part.
Is it true that no one introduced him because they were afraid that reading the name "CLINT EASTWOOD" off the teleprompter it would instead come out as "CUNT EASTWOOD"? That certainly would've been terrible. Good decision.

Clint was okay. (I didn't watch the convention, had too many Psych episodes to catch up on, but saw him on YouTube) He is obviously tottering into the senile range, but he still has some chops. He reminds me of my dad: a little bit older, and a little bit slower, but he still knows what he wants to say, and he still makes more sense than younger pinheads like Joe Biden.
On a related note, I wonder why all the Hollywood "tough guys" are conservatives? You've got your Clint, your John Wayne, your Stallone, your Arnold, your Bruce Willis, your Kurt Russell. Maybe "Expendables" is code for "Conservatives"?

I am so excited that I live in the swing corridor of the swing state that may ultimately decide the outcome of the election that will forever decide the fate of the soul of our great country. In fact my house may be the exact epicenter from where this momentous decision will break one way or another.
And for this great pleasure I am blessed with my phone ringing nonstop 24/7 with suggestions, advice, and poll takers. And my television spews out political advertising for 53 minutes out of every hour. God bless America!
There. I feel better now. Carry on.

OK, I understand that context.. then why even make the statement? It's called contrast. With the state of the economy our choice is between a man who worked in law and taught law and never ran a business and a man who created a business that acquired and grew business. No to mention a million lawyer jokes that we have all heard and told. I thought it was funny.
