I've always had a good time at Disney and enjoy the quality of the attractions. Watching my kids react differently to the experience as they grow older is interesting too. The down side to Disney is the high cost. It's very expensive no matter how you do it, we were there in April for 2 days for a cost of $2000 (4 people). You'll see what I mean once you get there, they don't f*ck around when it comes to separating you with your money.
That mouse (Mickey) has got balls.

Gary,
Thanks so much for those links, those pictures can give you an idea of why we love Paris so much! They were fun to go through. and some brought back memories, since we were lucky enough to visit those sites in May. Now you've given me (yet another) reason to go back and see the rest!
As for Disney, yes, we have no illusions about the amount of money we will spend! We got such a good deal for the package that we can afford to spend money on other stuff as it comes up. We're thinking of booking a special Halloween trick or treat party on September 5th (our last night at WDW and the first night they start having the event for the season). They close Magic Kingdom to everyone who doesn't have the special tickets from 7pm on. The kids get to go Trick or Treating, the lines for the rides are much shorter due to the smaller amount of people in the park, the characters are all dressed up in Halloween costumes and there's a special Halloween parade and fireworks. The catch ~ the tickets are about $50/person, so it's an expensive little outing on top of what we've already spent, but what the hell, Sebastian is worth it!!!
Colleen, I really don't think you would have to worry about being treated rudely in Paris, I read many trip reports and travel boards, and mostly everyone has a very positive experience with Parisians. Are there jerks in the city? Of course, and I can't say you won't run into one or two, but there are idiots everywhere and on the whole, we found Parisians to be very friendly and willing to help tourists. Read some comments on the Trip Advisor Paris forums or Slow Travel trip reports to get some more confirmation of this so you can set your mind at ease.
As for traveling to Quebec, unless you are in Montreal, where there is much more English spoken, unfortunately, there are sometimes issues with language because some Quebecers still have separatist leanings and resentment of all things English and Canadian (except, of course, anything English and Canadian that puts money in their pockets, like their pension plans, Federal Government grants, tourist dollars, etc ~ they seem to be able to get over their feelings for that!!). Montreal is the exception because of the large English/ethnic population and English shouldn't be an issue here. It's very sad that in this day and age, some people are still hung up on stupid labels and even stupider political aspirations. Luckily, this is becoming less and less of an issue and the separatist movement has been in decline since the last referendum in the 80s.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

Gary,
Another thanks for that NYT article, I've just read it, it has so many great suggestions, I've bookmarked it for our next trip.

Jo -- Disney trips are always a blast and when your kids or grandchildren are the ones getting the benefit the money is well spent. I'm always taken back when I see the prices. Twenty dollar bills seem useless.

Ain't it the truth! Thank God the Canadian $ is pretty much at par with the US$, 5 years ago, we would have paid 50% more for those useless $20 bills!! They do seem to have a way of just flying out of the wallets at Disney World! We still can't wait!

Somewhere I have a picture of Pluto licking my wife. I wish I knew where it was, if I find it I'll post it. It must have been a pleasant ch-ch-change from licking his balls. The picture is 18 years old.

I have visited Walt Disney World several times and have always really enjoyed it, though wild horse would never get me back into the Small World ride ever again after my first mind-numbing trip through that Mattel doll hell!!. There are other great parks in Orlando too of course, some of which IMHO are better than WDW. My favourite is Islands of Adventure, and a drive down to Tampa for the theme park/zoo/safari park experience at Busch Gardens is a 'must' too.

When in Disney, try "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith." It's a great ride. The indoor roller coaster features a high-speed launch of 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds. When the accelerate blasts off, you're rockin' at five Gs as you head to the first upside down loop on the track. www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/mgm/st-rockin.htm

My grandson is 4, so I fear that It's a Small World will be on our agenda, along with all the other kiddie rides. This trip is all about him and we can't wait to see his face when he sees Main Street USA for the first time. Our adult entertainment comes at Hedo and in Europe Jo

Getting licked by Pluto is one thing and getting f*cked by Goofy is quite another, it's taking on all 7 out of 7 Dwarfs that makes me nervous.

Getting licked by Pluto is one thing My uncle was a boxer, and many was the time he found himself on his hands and knees, smeared with Vaseline and spitting into a bucket after getting licked in the ring. Simon (who hopes that 'ring' can also have the same meaning across the pond)

Simon (who hopes that 'ring' can also have the same meaning across the pond) Simon, I have to give you credit. I don't think I have ever seen the visuals of a thread jerked 180 degrees any harder than you have just accomplished. We have gone from a discussion of Paris, restaurants, and parks to a description of your uncle that I think will stick with me for most of the day. I must say this is a job well done. DennyP would be proud.

Simon ( who hopes that 'ring' can also have the same meaning across the pond) On this side of the pond, boxers usually do all those things in what we call a 'daisy chain', sometimes with a chain link top, locking the boxers in, in which case it becomes a 'death match'.
