Nope, it looks like the length of it will end it... Hey, IT guys ----- Here's a question for you..... Could something like the length of that thread wreak enough havoc with the bandwidth, and cause the site to crash?

I'm not an IT guy, but I would guess that it depends on how the board was programmed. Basically, a message board is just a big database. Long records can be unweildy, but that's what you have pages for, so you don't have to display too much data at once. So in my professional opinion: it depends. Maybe Dan or RH or BB can hazard a better guess.......Jake

Hey, IT guys ----- Here's a question for you..... Could something like the length of that thread wreak enough havoc with the bandwidth, and cause the site to crash? No. It is an indexed database with variable length records. Has nothing to do wth the bandwidth accessing it. If it crashes it's because the database is unstable. D D

OK - sorry I forgot to log in! Denny does have a point though. Although the message file is a flat database - depending on the software it running it, it may be that everyone who accesses the thread has to download the entire thread. That WILL affect the performance of the database. The bandwidth any one particular user is accessing said database should not have any particular performance hits assuming the network provider has his load balancing tuned properly. WAY too many variables to definitavely say.
