Yes, I know it's Halloween. And I know the kids just love Trick or Treating. But I have become to hate this holiday. No, not the holiday, just the trick or treaters.
I have Bruce yelling at me to get his proposals/invoices complete and ready for the mail, the dog barking because nobody is stopping to play with him and the trick or treaters with their sacks out for goodies. I can't wait until 8 tonight when this is over!
Thanks, I needed to get this off my chest!

Well, I thought this night was getting better because Bruce took over handing out the candy, But NO. He just yelled to me to get more candy from the kitchen for him. We are now going to run out because he was handing out several pieces to each trick or treater instead of one or two pieces!
I told him to hand out just one and he called me cheap!

Yes, I know it's Halloween. And I know the kids just love Trick or Treating. But I have become to hate this holiday. ~DJ~ I feel your pain. This is my least favorite holiday (can it even be called that or is it a tradition?) I don't mind the trick or treaters, (we only get about 10, if that. So far, it's a slow night. Only two. I hate going into stores, and seeing people dressed up it makes me jump when I turn a corner, and there is some horrific creature there. I hate the houses decorated with hanging dead people. I honestly do not find it humorous. I also don't like haunted houses either, they give me the creeps, and I get no enjoyment out of being scared. I think it's mean to scare people! About the only think I like about it is dressing up the Pugs!

DJ,
If you weren't messing around posting on here, you'd have time to do everything you're supposed to be doing!

Boy or boy am I with you on the dressing up thing, Renee. I have always hated people in costumes. My boys have learned to hate people in costumes also. I don't have even one picture of either of them with Santa! Does that make me a bad Mom??? I'll bet your pugs are adorable dressed up! I have a devil costume for our Cocker but don't have it on him tonight. Bruce just tied a red hanky around his neck instead. ~DJ~

(ducking and running) You are right, Gary, you better duck (why a no chicken?) and run!!! Actually, Bruce took over handing out the candy and turned the office light off to make the house more eerie. Therefore I can't see to read his invoices/proposals to type them! So I'm off the hook and can surf this board. ~DJ~

I hate this holiday too! I turn out all the lights and go out so there is no one here but BIG LOUD DOGS... I don't think I have been home for this holiday in about 10 years, does that make me the mean old lady on the block?

I just returned from the Halloween Parade in the Village. Ed & Eileen go every year and they invited me to hang with them tonight ... so I did. It is actually the first time I've ever attended this event ... and I've lived in NYC for 34 years! I will not do it again.
The parade itself was really cool. The first few "floats" and marching bands were excellent. But after standing around for an hour and a half with limited visibility (everyone is TALLER than me!) our little group got restless and decided to go to a bar. But I had to get home 'cuz I have to work tomorrow and they don't.
I could NOT get into a subway station on Sixth Avenue to save my ass. The transit cop at the West 4th Street station told me I could only get on the train at Waverly or at Spring because the West 4th St. station was for exiting passengers only. But there was a barricade on West 4th so I could not cross over to get to Waverly. OK, so I decide to walk 10 block south to Spring. But NOOOOOOOO. Couldn't cross West Houston to get to Spring. FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!!!!
Ended walking back a few blocks to Bleecker and then waaaaayyy east to Lafayette (I fucking get lost in the Village 80% of the time) to catch a train ... ANY train ... so I could get the fuck out of Manhattan. Arrrrgh! Took me two hours to get home when it shouldn't have taken more than 40 minutes.
But at least I wasn't home to answer the door for the little rugrats.

Maybe this is why I have always avoided the Easter Parade and New Year's Eve in Times Square. I hate crowds.

BTW, there was a cute dog in the parade. He was a daschsund (sp?) and he was wearing a hot dog bun and a squiggle of "mustard". Too cute! Also, there were some naked women on a float from a radio station (I think it might have been Hot 97). They were all very thin and small breasted, wearing black g-strings and black feathers to cover their nips. Thanks goodness it was a mild evening. Nary a goosebump in sight on those nekkid chickies.

I'll make a point of reminding everyone of that the next time you throw another NYC Hedo Party for your Yahoo group.

That's not a crowd. That' a soiree. Anything more than 100 people is a crowd.

I don't think that's the official definition of a crowd.

When I use all my fingers there is a crowd at work (or is the correct word 'play'?).

We stopped turning our porch light on about 5 years ago. I'd buy 3-4 bags of candy and end up eating more than half! And there always seemed to be one car after another from across town coming over and dropping their kids off to trick ot treat. That's not so bad until they get obnoxious. And Renee, cute idea about the pugs. I want to dress our pugs up for Christmas cards! If I could figure out how to get their picture on my avatar I would. DD

I am civil to the Mormons... I tell them I will listen to what they have to say... IF we share a drink!
The JW's, I just tell them I have relatives who are 'believers' (a truth), and I have heard and rejected... that stops them! Also, tell JW's that you once were one and they will leave quickly also (they practice a sort of shunning of those who leave).
