I certainly hope they keep you heavily drugged.
I had the misfortune to be standing next to a gentleman one time at a urinal when he happened to pass a kidney stone. To this day I am not quite sure if he knew one was coming in his immediate future or not.
He let out the most blood curdling howl. I think I jumped 10 feet and screamed too. I can only imagine what the people out in the lobby must have thought. Today you would probably think it is some kind of Larry Craig initiation scene.
The one thing that still amazes me is that I was able to not piss all over myself during this episode. This is funny, where were you? Did the stone passer-outer-guy need help or request it?

The one thing that still amazes me is that I was able to not piss all over myself during this episode. This is funny, where were you? Did the stone passer-outer-guy need help or request it? This was at a movie theater and we were on our way out after the movie. After the guy hollered he just sort of slumped against the wall, leaning on his forearm. I looked over and quickly asked if there was anything I could do. However, I had already in my mind drawn the line at helping him zip up if he asked. He shrugged and said everything was OK and he just needed to catch his breath. I thought he was probably a pro at this kind of thing. I quickly exited and blended into the lobby crowd as I really did not want to be identified as one of the participants in some weird sodomy experiment. I waited for a couple of minutes and he can walking out and met up with his wife. I took that as my sign to quietly disappear and go have a couple of beers to try and calm down just a little.

I actually was just in the hospital again for these damn things. I can almost set the calendar by them anymore, every 6 months off to the ER for drugs. I have sent them in to be analyzed they are calcium oxalate, I have pretty much given up all dairy products aside from a bowl of ice cream from time to to time, drink in excess of a gallon of water a day, and I STILL get the god damn things. The doc says I am just one of the lucky people whose body just makes them for no good reason. They have checked my bone density to make sure the calcium isn't leaching out of my bones, but other than making a 4-5mm stone every six months I am healthy as I could be. On a side note this last stone was the biggest yet, almost 6mm, I was actually admitted to the hospital and given that wonderful little button that delivers all that goodness directly to the bloodstream This one took me 3 days to pass, if it hadn't cleared by Monday morning they were going in after it *yikes* NOT my idea of a good time, glad it managed to pass.

After 10 days and the stone not moving despite drinking gallons of tea each day (I can't handle the water here), I had the ESWL done yesterday. Now I"m peaing gravel and feeling much better.
The ESWL is a shockwave treatment that polverizes the stone while still inside with no cutting. It sounds worse than it is. I do have a small bruise when the stone was located.

I was at a job fair earlier this week and one of my fellow vendors was just out of the emergency room due to his first kidney stone. He had a pocket full of medicine. He looked like hell and he said he felt like hell.
He told me not to be surprised if I saw him doubled over in pain because he had not passed the stone yet.
Georgette must be one tough lady if she went through that for 10 days. God Bless her.

Georgette Georgette, thats exactly what I had done. The best part is peeing through the strainer to catch and collect the 'gravel' as you put it. Enjoy!! I remember it fondly. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Gordon

At least you were better at the aiming. It's kind of hard to see if I have the strainer in the right spot.
