Wow, I've heard of a Fluffernutters take-over before, but THIS is *ridiculous*!

I like how John Issa is selling Hedo to John Issa.

Thats an interesting point Jake. I am sure that there are some critical corporate tax reasons to separate the Hedo property from the remainder of Superclubs.
Not knowing Jamaica tax laws, I can only speculate what that would be.

I like how John Issa is selling Hedo to John Issa. I bet those negotiations are what's holding up the deal from being finalized. Do you think he has to keep getting up and moving to opposite sides of the conference table during the meetings?

Maybe he's using two different puppets, one on each hand. Jabbering at each other in a high-pitched squeaky patois like Agustus.

I like how John Issa is selling Hedo to John Issa. The way I understand it is that SuperClubs where Issa is founder, Chairman and majority owner, is selling to Marshmallow Ltd where Issa has a small interest.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!! AND I WANT TO KNOW WHICH ONE OF THEM IS MANAGING THE BANANA SITUATION!

And the biggest question of all: If Hedo is no longer owned by Superclubs, will it still be a super-inclusive resort?

Rumor is that all the conference rooms were booked and they had to hold the negotiations at Point Village

And the biggest question of all: If Hedo is no longer owned by Superclubs, will it still be a super-inclusive resort? Sadly, no -- the bathrooms will be converted to pay toilets (no HedoBucks -- coins only); if you want to wipe, that'll cost extra.

This sale is the end of Hedo as we know it. No way these guys will keep it running. Just IMHO.

I'm with Dr Bob here I'm afraid. I always assumed that Hedo was Superclub's cash cow... low ongoing investment with a high return. But if Superclubs can't make make it pay its way now and need to offload it then I can't see anyone else having any more luck. I'd give it a couple year until the money runs out.

AND the sale information was apparently posted on a "secret" Fluffer's site . . . sort'a gives the impression that Jon is saying, "Yep! WE GOT IT!! Now let's make it a place for OUR group!"
I hope I'm wrong. Time will tell. I was at Hedo once when the fluffers were there and unless you're a swinger, they didn't really want to interact with you. Then again, I probably had bad BO or something.
I will remain cautiously optimistic but my gut tells me this is not a good thing. I hope I get to prove my gut wrong.

IMHO, the sale is a good thing. Hedo has a valuable brand. We got back Sunday from 2 weeks there and occupancy was 100%. The property has been bled badly and needs work, but the new owners plan to put $10 million US into improvements. This appears to me to be the best thing that could have happened to Hedo. Jon and Kevin are among the new owners and they understand the business and the market well.

I haven't really paid much attention to the goings on at Dennyp's for some time. But looking just now... did everyone get their post counts reset at some point? People who have been on there for years seem to have a lot less posts than I thought they should have. Or is it my imagination?

I would have thought I was much higher than that.

Besides - how deep of pockets do you think he has that he can keep the place going just for his own pals?

From what I read over at Denny's, the first information at Denny's was reported by someone who had seen the report on a site that only Fluffer's have access to. Whoever reported that noted that only those folks could read it. Just seems weird to me.

10 mill for a commercial renovation doesn't go very far now day. With the shape that Hedo's in it won't go very far at all.

In Chicago, $10M wouldn't even cover the bribes to the building commissioner. But in Jamaica? It will probably go a bit farther.

I hope the new owners are smart enough to have a physical needs assessment done by an architect/engineer and budget for replacement of building systems accordingly....now and for the future. This is done in my business for apartment buildings with a 20 year projection. Furniture and fixtures should be much easier to budget for.
