Let's face it -- I've worked most of 2011 on Wall Street ... so what else would be the theme for this year's Trip Report for New Year's Eve at Hedonism II?

Good trip report. Also enjoyed reading the Farewell to Arms review while in the neighborhood.

Thanks, Tex -- looks like a Hemingway read has become something of an unofficial tradition during my vacations the past few years.

If you haven't read it already, To Have or Have Not is a great read. The movie by the same name, starring Bogart and Bacall, was entertaining, but the Nazis were brought in to turn the film into war propaganda and the film departed so far from the book as to be almost unrecognizable.

I haven't decided which Hemingway book to read next -- I was thinking maybe either "For Whom The Bell Tolls" or doing something of a detour and reading one of the biographies. But I'll definitely keep "To Have Or Have Not" in mind for consideration -- I've certainly got plenty of time to make up my mind! Thanks for the recommendation, Tex!

For that matter, if you believe in the Mayan calendar, then there might not even *be* a trip report next year!

Nice trip report Beep.
Had the same problem with the water for WWW. Hot the first two days then warm, luke warm, then just barely warm, the hot the last night there.
As far as the Mayan Calender goes, I am not buying any x-mas presents until after the 12-22. If we are still here that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Bad strategy Joe, if the world ends on 12/21, all your bucks go along with it. Buy early, spend big

If you read "For Whom the Bell Tolls", a good sequel would be "The Dangerous Summer", which tells of Hemingway's return to Spain for the 1959 bullfighting season and the rivalry between two greats of the sport Ordonez and Dominguin. Hemingway knew the families (I believe that the two were in-laws) from his days in the Spanish Civil War. Both books are good, but I maybe even enjoyed the later book better than the first. Both are well worth the time and go well together.

Nice trip report, its good to see old H2 is still in its ways. BB that picture would also be a great lead photo for a scotch or whiskey tasting thread! Anyway, glad you had some proper rest, relaxation and some Hemingway.

I have always kept it in the back of my mind as one of those Hemingway books on my Bucket List. I will definitely get to it one of these days -- just not sure which one will be next. But thanks again for the recommendations!

A few years ago I made a trip to Spain. Having read "The Sun Also Rises," which prominently features the bull fighting culture, I knew that I HAD to attend a bull fight. And I did, in Barcelona. It was an amazing experience.
