Even as the 2010 TNMC Dead Pool Contest winds its way to an exciting pennant-race style conclusion, we must also start preparing for the upcoming 2011 version! Once again, the rules are the same: Submit your list of the ten celebs you most expect to croak in the upcoming calendar year. Whoever gets the most stiffs by the end of the year, wins. What do you win, you ask? Why, you win a hearty handshake, a pat on the back, and the warm glow of success. In other words, not a fucking thing. Playing in the game is simple: Just post your list of your favorite ten coffin-candidates on this thread. Feel free to edit it up until midnight on December 31 if you get new evidence or better hunches. After that time, I'll lock the thread so that nobody can accuse you of tampering with it after the deadline. Also: be sure to sequence your list so your surest stiffs are at the top. Our tie-breaker scheme is to assign points based on positions in the list. That is, a stiff at the top of your list gets you 10 points, second on the list gets you 9 points, and bottom of the list gets you one point. But this is ONLY used to break ties. More stiffs always beats fewer stiffs. We can have a separate thread for discussing progress throughout 2011 as we have done in the past. If Gordon continues his excellent tradition, he can kick it off with a Master Compilation (tm) thread. Good luck to everyone. And for those about to croak, we salute you!!......Jake

The Master Compilation will be there since it gets me away from the Bowl parades. Although we do have to make a 240 mile round trip to make that day to get our daughter on a plane back to Tallahassee, so it may be delayed by a few hours.
Also, could I propose a variant for the game for the coming year? One that introduces a bit of gaming theory. Assign points to each name based on the inverse of the popularity of names on the list, Points = Number of People Participating - Frequency of the Name. That is, if 10 people participate and everyone selects a particular individual to be on their List, the death of that individual would result in 10-10= 0 points. If you select a unique individual that no one else selects, that would be worth 10 - 1 = 9 points.
The best part is that you could post bogus lists to devalue a name, then ch-ch-change it at the last minute, hoping to draw participants towards, or away from particularly popular names.
What do you think?

Interesting twist, Gordon, but I think not. The pool is about predicting deaths, not about gaming the system. But maybe you should run for Congress?

No ... your thinking of the one that was a boob, I'm talking about the one with the huge fake bOObs and whip marks from Sylvester Stallone.
She was naked in Gun movies, not in the Naked Gun movies... slight difference.

Looks like eleven participants so far. That's equal to our 2010 field. C'mon, one more, and we can set a new record! Who hasn't entered yet? Bob?? Either Gary??
